PATCH / Helderberg Child Abuse Centre
PATCH aims to support all child victims of sexual abuse in the Helderberg area of Cape Town and strives to prevent the incidence of this horrific crime committed against innocent children. With the generous help of corporate funding` the staff of PATCH have provided treatment and therapy to thousands of child victims of sexual abuse for the past 22 years.
PATCH Primary Goals:
To create awareness of child sexual abuse in the Helderberg area.
To increase the rate of disclosures of sexual abuse.
To deliver a comprehensive 24 hour crisis intervention service to child victims of sexual abuse during their medical examination.
To provide pre-test HIV counselling.
To provide access to PEP treatment (Post-Exposure Prophylaxis) in order to prevent HIV and/or STD`s (Sexually transmitted diseases).
To provide free professional therapy to child victims of sexual abuse in their home language at a PATCH facility close to their home.
Prepare children for their court cases.
It costs R2500 per child per year to receive Free` professional therapy to help them overcome the trauma of having been raped or sexually abused.
